I DID IT!

I finished my goal today. 100 miles! My goal was to run 100 miles by July 1st, I had 3.5 left, and this morning I got up and went 5 miles! My longest run yet, I'm so proud of myself!

WAHOO!
I've really enjoyed this goal so I'm going to do it again. Starting Monday, I want to run another 100 miles in just 6 weeks. That means I'll have to run about 17 miles per week to make it, but I know I can do it. Sorry to toot my own horn, but I'm excited. I also owe a big thank you to Jason who has pushed me and watched Addie so I could finish. Yay!

Jana, that is so awesome. I totally admire you--I don't think I could ever do that. Congrats!

Jana, that is awesome. So I have some questions. Where do you run? Do you go to a gym, have a treadmill or go outside? Also how long did it take you to run 5 miles? Do you get bored? That is so awesome. Reading your blog inspires me to maybe do the same.

I like to run outside the best. There is a park nearby that has a 0.9 mile path. It's getting so hot here, though, that I have to go before 6:30am or I die of the heat. My friend Corrine was going at 5am with me, but she's gone for a month vacation and I can't go alone, it's too scary before the sun rises. For the last week without her I've been running on the treadmill in our apartment's clubhouse. That is much much more boring, but there is a TV with cable and I've missed HGTV, so it's ok.

It took me 56 minutes to run 5 miles. I'm not very fast, that is a little over an 11 minute mile, but I go for distance, not speed. I don't get bored when I run outside, I actually find that I get a lot done. I don't like to run with music, though, to me that is boring. I usually plan my day while I run, pray, think through problems or decisions, just meditate. I find it all very relaxing, I enjoy the time to myself without any distractions. At first I HATED running, but now I look forward to it. It's something I do just for myself and I enjoy being able to be selfish about it without feeling guilty.

Wow, that was more than you wanted, but I encourage you to do it! I have a spreadsheet to track your miles if you want it! I'm running my first 5K race this Thursday and I can't wait!

That's great Jana! Good job. I still have yet to return to the gym or work out which is sad because I used to love to do it. Thanks for the motivation to get back on the horse girl.
